Yuck!
Since the second season, I haven't been a huge South Park fan. It's a really creative show, but I just lost interest.
The latest South Park episode was based on World of Warcraft. Half of the show was shot inside thw WoW engine. The whole episode focused on the kids playing WoW and overcoming a "final boss" in the game.
The show was hilarious. You don't have to be a gamer to catch the humor in this episode. If you are a gamer, you'll appeciate some funny quotes by the South Park kids. They use gamer jargon and sayings and even mention TeamSpeak servers. This episode is highly quotable.
Tons of research went into this episode. Blizzard and the South Park animators worked together to create new content in the WoW engine. I've watched the episode four times already. It was that funny.
I recommend giving it a look here.
Watching that show left me wanting some of my favorite games featured in South Park. But I don't think a First-Person Shooter or Simulation game would work. You can't really express personality in those types of games. In WoW, you've got several different ways of customizing your character. You're also left to explore a seemingly boundless world.
Over on NBC, The Office featured Call of Duty. During certain times throughout the day, people in the office turn off the lights and start LANning CoD. The game only got about 60 seconds of focus during the episode, however, it was shown in a great light - a game that's fun to play with others.
