I recently launched a new version of the Hushed Casket website (http://hushedcasket.com). The Hushed Casket is my local gaming community. We were once hosted on a section of Bungie.net. We needed more features than was offered at B.net, so we bounced to a shared server and our own software.
We ran SMF (Simple Machines Forum) for over a year. I recommend that forum over ANY forum software out there. However, the community was long overdue for more Web 2.0 features. So, I ported the SMF database over to Drupal (a system I've used for over 4 years) and it is rocking. I ported over all users and all of their content (except for a few private messages).
I consider the redesign an 80% solution. The users will control the remaining 20% by suggesting new features and filing bug reports. So far, it's working out great. Users have submitted dozens of issues and feature requests and the site is already evolving a bit.
The theme is based on the HALO universe with a splash of Gears of War. I haven't gotten it validated yet, but that shouldn't be much of a problem.
I've noticed I've already got some links in from The Daily Slurp, CSS-Galleries.com, LightonDark.com and other design related sites. What they don't know is that I'm a huge newb and lucked into this.
I am starting to hear voices... they come in the dark solitude of a gameless night... like little frogs laughing at my negliect. Freakin' frogs are ticking me off.
